It might surprise many, but Barack and his wife, Michelle Obama, have decided to express a heartfelt apology in a letter to the young man their daughter, Malia, is currently dating.
The move was unexpected, according to Charles and Catherine Farquharson, the parents of Rory Farquharson, a 19-year-old Harvard sophomore from England.
The couple has spoken to several local British media outlets, close friends, and family members about the letter from the former president.
A close source to the wealthy pair talked to the Daily Mail and said the former first couple was very sorry for a laundry list of things that come with fame.
Since the young British man started courting Malia, he is often approached by reporters who would love to have his opinion on everything under the sun.
Malia’s boyfriend is bombarded with political and personal inquiries. Like Malia, the teenage boy is also being harassed for pictures and even autographs.
It seems that the Obamas and the Farquharsons are hoping the romance between their children will stand the test of time.
The family friend, who spoke with the publication, stated that Charles and Catherine are ecstatic their son is dating the famous former first daughter.
Apparently, Charles and Catherine were very moved by the letter sent by the former leader of the free world. Malia and Rory began their relationship in the fall of 2017.
They have been spotted on numerous occasions, enjoying romantic strolls around Massachusetts. TMZ cameras also caught them kissing and smoking funny cigarettes before a big football game.
Friends say he has plans to follow his father’s footsteps and become a wealthy businessman. As for Malia, she is working on becoming a filmmaker.
Malia’s parents have never commented on her private life, but in 2016, Barack said he is okay with Malia dating because her mother is “such a great example by the way she carries herself, her self-esteem, not depending on boys to validate how you look or not letting yourself be judged by anything other than your character and intelligence.”
Moreover, both Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump have publicly asked that Malia be off limit so she can thoroughly enjoy her college years.
