Malia Obama went through a total transformation with the way she looks. The 19-year-old daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama changed her hairstyle from wearing it straight and shoulder-length to combed in long neat braids.
Currently, the former first daughter is enjoying her summer holiday break from Harvard, where she will be a sophomore in the autumn and is spending most of her time in Manhattan, where she was an intern for the Weinstein Company last year.

Malia’s new looks were noticed for the first time while she was walking in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The teenager was walking alone and judging by her outfit; it seems that she was just returning from a workout. Malia was wearing black leggings from SoulCycle, boots, and a jean jacket.
According to the opinion of hair specialists, the style chosen by Malia is considered to have a shielding effect on the mane and is very popular among women of African-American descent.
The braids are also a very suitable solution during the warm months of the year since they are durable in various conditions like sweating or being exposed to humidity.

Malia’s braided look is reminiscent of her mother’s. Michelle Obama posted an old photograph recently, where she can be seen as a college girl in Princeton University with braids similar to those worn by Malia nowadays.
Another thing that both mother and daughter have in common is their love for training in SoulCycle, as both of them had been seen working out in studios of the famous fitness chain.
Some were a bit surprised to see Malia spending time alone because she is said to be dating British-born Rory Farquharson. The twosome was first linked last year, and the retired politician is said to be a fan of the talented young man.
When he was in the White House, the Democratic politician said he dreaded the moment when his two daughters would start dating.
