Kate Spade Earl F. Brosnahan Jr. Funeral

The father of deceased designer Kate Spade has passed away just one night before the funeral of his daughter was supposed to take place.

The demise of the 89-year-old Earl F. Brosnahan Jr. was announced by the grieving family in an official statement in late June during an episode of Good Morning America.

Just hours after the announcement, hundreds of mourners gathered for the funeral of the fashion designer in Kansas City, where her father was born and raised.

The cause of death was determined to be linked to his problematic health in the last few months, as well as having to deal with the loss of his child.

Relatives of the deceased explained he was heartbroken when he first heard the news about Kate’s passing.

The 55-year-old fashion icon Kate Spade took her life on June 5, when she hanged herself in her Manhattan apartment.

The housekeeper first discovered the body. According to Kate’s husband, Andy Spade, she had been suffering from depression and anxiety for years, and this is probably why she decided to take such a drastic measure.

Kate’s father leaves behind a sorrowful family of his wife, four siblings, one sister, five children and eight grandchildren.

Throughout his life, he has been married twice and shares six children with his first wife June Therese Mullen.

He married his second spouse, Sandy Palmer, in 1992, and she remained by his bed in his final moments.

Brosnahan spent his whole life in Kansas City, besides the time spent in the U.S. Navy and at the University of Miami, which he graduated from in 1949.

Since then he had been making his living in the construction business he inherited from his father.

The death of Kate has sparked a national conversation about suicide and depression. Time will tell if the chatter can be meaningful for society
