Janet Jackson surprised her numerous followers on Wednesday night by posting an image of herself in a music studio booth. The photo does not show much — just the back of her neck — but the pop music legend seems focused on what she is doing.
The picture rapidly went viral, and many people initially assumed that it was Beyoncé. The mother of one, who received the Billboard Icon Award at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards earlier this month, has been hard at work on her State of the World Tour.
Janet put out her eleventh studio album Unbreakable in October 2015. It contained the hit song “No Sleeep” featuring rapper J. Cole.
Missy Elliott, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were among the producers. It is not yet clear if the “Feedback” singer will collaborate with the same team again.
One thing is certain, Janet is in a great creative space and is always experimenting with new ideas and concepts. It needs to be said that new music does not necessarily mean that it will be part of a new album.
Nonetheless, supporters are over the moon and just cannot wait to find out more about the secret project.
One of them wrote, “OMG!!!!!!! Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! RECORD MUTHA! RECORD!! Give us a record to snatch our wigs anew!!! Yes, Janet!! Yaaaaasssss!!!! I’m ready to buy!! Are giving Target the special edition album or someone else? I just need to know where to stand in line. Also, should we be expecting another tour after this one? I ask because I need to save some coin. Janet, just for the record, I’m bald and am in need of my wig back. Of course, whenever you are done, I’m not in a rush.”
It appears that Janet’s brilliant career is ready for a second act and she is doing her best to get everything right.
