A promo photo for The Boys drew a lot of attention towards the Amazon new anti-superhero spoof show — and Chace Crawford, who will be starring in the role of Kevin/The Deep.
However, some of it might have been in a more humorous tone than Amazon expected.
The promotional calendar shot for the production seems to have omitted the fact that Crawford’s member could be seen in an outline in his suit for the March 2020 page, leading to the image immediately becoming viral and spreading all over the Internet.
The other months were airbrushed properly, and March is the only month that left unfiltered.
Many people questioned how something like this could even make it past all the internal verification, while others speculated that it might have been on purpose to generate publicity for the film.
It could tie into the overall tone of The Boys as well, as the Web series is supposed to be a spoof of traditional superhero movies, putting the focus on anti-heroes.
Others have pointed out that the shot might even have been on purpose to tie it into the overall comedic tone of the production.
However, this has been doubted by many, and the leading theory going around right now is that this was just a huge mistake by whoever was supposed to be overseeing the promotional materials.
Crawford himself has not commented on the situation, although it is not hard to imagine that he might be finding it humorous behind the scenes.
After all, there has been a lot of positive attention towards a relatively sensitive part of his image, and he is probably at least getting a chuckle out of this situation.
Although some commenters believe there was a lot of Photoshopping involved with the final result.
Some people also wondered how come a man can get away with showing a bulge/boner, while a woman has to hide their nipples.
A critic stated: “Okay, so a guy can post this, but when a hint of a nipple shows on a woman’s picture, Instagram freaks out… right.”
One hilarious comment read: “What… just a guy carrying that cucumber in his pocket for a healthy snack later… Nothing to see here… move along creepers. 🤔😉😃”
A third person added: “They edit out Tom Hiddleston’s bulge as Loki, but this stays? Pffft double standards give us some Hiddlesconda!”
With this incredibly tight superhero outfit for The Boys, Crawford is putting his old Gossip Girl image to rest.
The 34-year-old Texas native wrapped up filming for season 1 the Amazon show last year. It premiered on July 26.
