Vinnie Paul, perhaps best known as the drummer of Pantera, has died at age 54.
Paul was one of the founding members of the band together with his brother, Dimebag Darrell, and is an icon in the world of music, widely recognized for his style and influence.
The death was confirmed by the official Facebook page for the band, along with several other sources. Paul has significantly contributed to the world of music throughout his lifetime, also playing for the group Hellyeah apart from Pantera.
The situation is being treated with a heavy shroud of privacy, and the family of Vinnie Paul has asked fans to respect their privacy and not bother them with excessive questions.
As can be expected, however, there is no shortage of people trying to find out more about what happened with the Abilene, TX native, and whether there was something more unusual to his death than what is being shared right now.
This could be partially motivated by the death of Paul’s brother, Dimebag, who was killed during a live performance in 2004.
However, no indication has been given so far that there could have been foul play involved in the death of the legendary drummer, so this remains speculation by online commenters at this point.
It is not a surprising development in any case, as the death of a celebrity is almost always surrounded by a heavy dose of speculation and similarly insensitive comments from multiple sides.
It could also explain the attitude Paul’s family has towards the situation and their desire to be left alone for the time being.
Although authorities have not revealed the official cause of death as yet, they are convinced nothing suspicious occurred.
Fans will be able to pay tribute to the late musician on July 1st. The public memorial will take place at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas starting at noon.
