Thomas Markle, the father of the newly made Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, did the unthinkable by sharing too much of his personal conversations with Prince Harry in a TV interview for Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.
At one point in the interview, Markle was asked what he thinks of his daughter’s husband, and he was quick to answer.
According to Markle, while discussing politics in the past, his son-in-law expressed the opinion that Brexit was possibly a good solution, something that his country should at least look at in the proper context.
What’s more, he added that Donald Trump deserved a chance as president of the United States.
For the time being, there are no comments from Kensington Palace, but Markle’s words can still cause controversies in diplomatic circles.
Usually, it is expected that royals will refrain from not only voting but also from showing any political inclinations.
The claims of the 73-year-old father of the former Suits actress come out just two years after the Queen herself was heavily criticized for showing support for Brexit in the EU referendum.
It was rumored that her Majesty stated that the old continent was probably far from being on the right course before the critical referendum took place.
The Queen is not the only one in the royal family to be judged for her views, as Prince Charles was also the subject of massive backlash. The Prince was especially unpopular back in 2015 when news about the “black spider” memos broke out.
Mr. Markle also shared that even though he and his son-in-law led some very pleasant conversations over the phone, they still have not met in person.
The proud father said that unlike Prince Harry, he had no kind of patience for the American president. Some commenters were surprised to learn that the royal was open to the controversial billionaire.
