As the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gets closer, many feminists are hoping that the American actress, a well-known activist, will be able to influence the royal family in some areas.

For example, Kate Middleton’s appearance at this year’s BAFTA Awards provoked many disappointed reactions from supporters of the Time’s Up movement.

The Time’s Up campaign, which fights against sexual misconduct and poor treatment of women, has been promoting dressing in all-black attire among its followers lately during big events in the movie industry.

However, the Duchess of Cambridge chose to show up in a non-black gown when she walked the red carpet last month. The beautiful dress was in a dark green shade, with cap sleeves, and with a black sash that put the accent on the belly of the 7-month-pregnant royal.

Designer Jenny Packham made the stunning creation, and black Prada heels and emerald accessories complemented the outfit.

Many argued that Kate should have shown up in black attire like the one she wore at the BAFTA awards last year so she could express her support for the campaign too.

While it usually is improbable for members of the royal family to involve themselves in political matters or protests of any kind, Time’s Up is of no political nature with its goal being to diminish the harassment women experience in their workplaces.

As a result, Kate’s preferred color for the evening was seen as insensitive and inappropriate by many users on social media.

Many expressed their utter disappointment that the Duchess of Cambridge did not join the others in showing support for the cause.

In the past, Kate has on multiple occasions expressed her support for women who have to face different problems while raising a child, such as not having enough help or mental health issues.
