Oprah Winfrey Says No To 2020 Presidential Run, Some Supporters Still Hope To Change Her Mind

Oprah Winfrey Donald Trump 2020 Election

Business mogul and talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has stated firmly in an interview with InStyle magazine that she has no desire to run for president of the United States during the next election in 2020.

She also told the magazine that she had recently met someone who could help her out with the alleged presidential campaign, but it was just something of no interest to her.

The idea of Winfrey being a possible candidate for president was born after her inspiring speech at the Golden Globe Awards at the beginning of this month. During her appearance, she discussed the important matters of sexual harassment and misconduct.

Following Oprah’s speech, a campaign to change her mind was started. It was initiated by the political consultant for the Democratic Party, Cormac Flynn, after he was contacted by multiple people, all asking to support Winfrey’s possible candidacy for president.

Flynn’s reasoning for his action is his high opinion of the media mogul, and he regards Oprah as an exceptional leader and thinks she would do an excellent job as president.

The political expert has said that he plans to continue working hard to convince the TV legend. It needs to be noted that the interview was conducted three weeks before the speech, so she might have changed her mind.

Oprah rose to prominence in the 1980s mostly thanks to her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show. The celebrity started her career from poverty to become one of the wealthiest women in the world.

The Mississippi native is also famous for her philanthropic work, having donated enormous amounts of money to various charity organizations.

President Donald Trump, on the other hand, welcomed the opportunity of competing against Oprah in the 2020 presidential election. According to him, Oprah would not go for the presidency, but if there was a race between the two of them, he would definitely be the winner.

However, most polls conducted on the matter give the businesswoman a pretty decent edge.
