After Donald Trump won the presidency and came to office, an infamous meeting was exposed between his family and some Russian representatives at the Trump Tower.
The event occurred when the presidential race was at its peak in June 2016 and involved some of the closest people to Trump, including his daughter, Ivanka Trump.
According to a report, Ivanka is now under investigation because of her contact with the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and the lobbyst — Rinat Akhmetshin.
Her supposed interaction with the Russians occurred briefly in the elevator while exiting the hotel.
Even though the communication between Ivanka and the Russian attorney did not last very long and consisted mainly of standard pleasantries, it still gathered the attention of the Special counsel Robert Mueller for his investigation.
The main reason for the investigation led by Mueller was the misleading statement from Donald Trump Jr., in which he claimed the goal of the meeting was to discuss Russian adoptions.
Later it became clear that the primary motive of the president’s son was finding shameful information on Hillary Clinton, his chief rival for the election.
Some people in the billionaire mogul’s closest circle attended the meeting at the Trump Tower, including his firstborn son Donald Trump Jr., the husband of Ivanka, Jared Kushner, his campaign manager Paul Manafort, as well as Veselnitskaya and Akhmetshin.
From the Russian side, there was a Russian-English translator, a representative of a Russian real estate group, who works in America, as well as a British music promoter collaborating with Russian businesspeople.
Trump’s reaction to the matter was denying any wrongdoing from his side as he insisted on the claim that he did not commit any crime during his presidential campaign.
It is hard to tell if this investigation will contribute to the downfall of the 45th U.S president, but so far, his base is still in his corner.
