According to recent claims, President Donald Trump is apparently quite a big fan of the television, mostly when it comes to reports about his own administration.

He also reportedly likes to combine this “passion” of his with a love for Diet Coke, and he supposedly spends hours in front of the TV opening one can after another.

Insiders say that the 45th U.S. president watches up to 8 hours of television daily accompanied by close to 12 cans of Diet Coke.

This is just one part of his morning routine which also involves going online to find out what the press and people have been saying about him, and overall, it looks like the president is very strongly obsessed with social media and the news.

Reports claim that Trump sees this as important for his own sanity, as he needs these reports to keep himself in check and ensure that he is moving on the right track with his base, regardless of what others are saying about him.

Trump also reportedly always takes the occasional peek at the TV, even with the sound off, and is frequently inspired by what he sees there for his endless Twitter posts. He apparently even had a dedicated TV installed just for this purpose. The former reality TV star has taken to Twitter to deny those claims.

How much of this is true is hard to say, and it is not easy to imagine someone as supposedly busy as the president of the United States finding so much time for the TV.

Moreover, yet, this is Trump we are talking about, and it is entirely possible that the president does indeed have an unhealthy obsession with the media, especially with regards to his own image and that of his administration as a whole.

Trump’s TV consumption was able to reach the national conversation and is at the root of the gorilla channel meme.
