Even though Mariah Carey had a bit of a mishap at last year’s NYE celebrations when her performance went awry, she did not give up this year and still wanted to give it a go.
Moreover, now, her showing was a huge success, with many fans praising the legendary diva and sharing posts about her singing.
There was more to it than that, though — Carey managed to turn herself into a meme of sorts by talking about her tea and how she expected one while she was performing on stage.
Later on, she seemed to have successfully located a cup of fresh tea and was seen enjoying it. As can be expected, the photo started circulating the Internet almost immediately and took off like wildfire, and it does not seem like Carey herself minds that at all.
One fan said, “They should have had it ready for you not too much to ask for.”
What she is probably more interested in is the way her performance was received this year, as she had a lot to make up for from the last time she went up on the stage for NYE.
A second supporter stated, “You absolutely killed it New Year’s Eve!”
Carey exchanged some nasty comments with the event producers back then, and she tried to shift the blame to faulty equipment and even intentional sabotage. In the end, she has apparently made up with Dick Clark Productions and has no spat with the company right now.
Many fans still remember that incident though, and it left a bad taste in some people’s mouths, at least on the side of Carey’s audience. A few supporters seemed to agree with her, but most of the opinions we saw were negative and aimed at her defensive attitude.
It is nice to see that the “Hero” singer was able to redeem herself.
