Graeme Souness, a legend of the successful Liverpool of the 1980s, has recently made some unflattering comments towards Paul Pogba, claiming that the player is severely underqualified for his position, to the extent that he does not understand it at all.
Souness also seemed to question whether Pogba even has the mental capacity to fulfill his role correctly at Manchester United, and the comments have generated a lot of controversy on social media and football circles ever since they have surfaced.
Still, not everything Souness had to say about Pogba was negative, as he also admitted that the player has good power and technique, and he has the ability to fool his opponents when necessary.
However, that does not seem to be enough, according to him, and he believes that much more is required to make it in the position that Pogba currently occupies.
In the end, he concluded that everything Pogba does is something that any member of a youth team should already know, and his skills do not represent someone of his age and status.
Souness really does not have a significant appreciation for Pogba’s talents because he believes that Jose Mourinho‘s team plays better when he is not there.
He added: “I believe that it is a bonus that Paul Pogba is suspended because he is the most undisciplined midfielder they have.”

Whether that is true or not is subjective of course, but it is also important to note that there is a lot of room for Pogba to potentially improve in the coming years if he really does see shortcomings with his own game.
For now, Pogba seems to be doing moderately well, and he does not seem affected by what Souness had to say about him. Let us hope that his performance is not going to deteriorate for whatever reason in the coming months though, as that would be disappointing for many fans.
With the World Cup coming, many French supporters are hoping that Pogba will be in top form to help his country win the top prize.
