After Charlie Rose left a gap in the programming lineup of PBS, the network has announced that a new BBC news program co-hosted by Katty Kay in the U.S. and Christian Fraser from the U.K. will replace half of the vacant slot.
At first, the program, called Beyond 100 Days, was meant to provide ongoing reports on the current state of the Trump administration.
However, interest in the production allowed it to take off on its own, and it is now a successful show that the network wants to pursue further.
It is supposed to bring a more international flavor to the current programming of the network, which claims that they are trying to fill a gap in the current market.
According to them, there is a severe lack of quality international content in their programming, and they want to take advantage of the opportunity to bring something new to the screen.
PBS has been in a problematic situation lately after several of their employees had to be let go in light of accusations of sexual misconduct.
Mr. Rose was not the only one to take the door for such reasons, and it looks like PBS may have to do some serious rearranging of their content if they want to make up for what they have lost.
They are not the only network to suffer from such problems on the other hand, as many parts of the entertainment industry have been hit hard by the recent wave of sexual assault allegations.
It does not look like the trend is over either, as more names keep coming out in such a negative context.
Kay’s program will begin airing on January 2, 2018, in the 11 PM time slot. The BBC News star will be sharing that hour with Christiane Amanpour, of CNN International fame.
Amanpour’s half-hour was announced a few weeks ago after Rose was confirmed.
