Sam Haskell Is Leaving Miss America Organization Amid Email Scandal — Lynn Weidner Will Follow Suit

Gretchen Carlson Miss America Emails Scandal

It seems like the beauty contest Miss America will not let the year end without a scandal.

On Thursday, alleged correspondence between the CEO Sam Haskell and other board members was made public.

The winners were heavily insulted and called ugly names in the published emails. The journalist Yashar Ali obtained the messages that were exchanged for a period of three years.

The weight of the contestants was mocked in quite the vulgar manner, as well as their personal lives and sexual relationships.

An official response from the Miss America Organization did not follow immediately.

The public did not wait that long to express its disappointment, however. Apparently, the producer of the live telecast, Dick Clark Production, is no longer associated with the Miss America Organization because of the indecent behavior.

Former contestants were also the subject of cruel jokes. Just three years ago, Tammy Haddad, who is also a board member, claimed that some former contestants were blaming the program for not becoming successful enough.

2013 winner Mallory Hagan was one of the women who was particularly mentioned by name in the emails.

Haskell discussed her sex life jokingly, alleging promiscuous behavior and poking fun at her weight gain in 2014.

Because of personal issues between Haskell and Hagan, the model was banned from being a coach for future contestants, destroying her profitable coaching business.

TV commentator Gretchen Carlson also was not spared in the offending messages. Carlson is the winner of the title in 1989 and since then was a board member of the organizations.

The reason for her falling under Haskell’s radar was her decision not to insult other winners of the title.

Carlson posted a message on Twitter, saying that she was “shocked and deeply saddened by the disgusting statements about women.”

Haskell announced on Saturday that he will be leaving the organization. Board Chairman Lynn Weidner will also be doing the same thing in 90 days.
