Kelly Ripa Claims Regis Philbin Did Not Like Talking Off Camera — Ryan Seacrest Is Different On ‘LIVE’

Kelly Ripa recently revealed some interesting details about the working style of former co-host, Regis Philbin, claiming that he was a very strict partner and a complete opposite to Ryan Seacrest, who she is currently working with on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan.

According to Ripa, Philbin insisted that they not speak off-camera, claiming that people should “save it” for the actual show.

This apparently went as far as regular everyday greetings, something which made the environment at the studio somewhat challenging.

In a new interview, Ripa told the New York Times: “Regis had a mandate: Absolutely no talking off-camera. He had almost a superstition about it. You save it for the show. I would be like, ‘Good morning,’ and he would say, ‘Save it for the air!”

Things seem to be going quite well with Mr. Seacrest now though. ABC spent a lot of time searching for a good fit for the position, and everyone seems happy with the choice right now, including Ripa.

There is an obvious strong bond between the two hosts, and it is clear that their relationship is on another level compared to what it was like between her and the legendary Philbin.

Seacrest himself opened up on the situation, admitting that he feels a strong connection to Ripa, and stated that he felt protective of her.

The two have been interacting off the set too, including exchanging text messages late in the night and other friendly details like that.

It looks like Ripa has finally been matched with someone with the right working style and attitude, and the results have been very positive.

Some were worried that the show might suffer after Philbin’s departure and a few even considered it doomed, but as we clearly see now, these speculations could not have been further from the truth, at least according to what has happened so far.
