Hope Solo Announces She Is Running For U.S. Soccer President — Can She Win?

Hope Solo, a former goalkeeper for the national team, has just announced that she is going to run for the position of president of the U.S. Soccer Federation, and she seems quite determined to bring some serious changes to the way the sport is run.

Solo made some passionate statements regarding her candidacy, in which she claimed that it is essential to recognize the real problems in the sport and to make sacrifices when it means making things better for everyone in the long run.

So far, almost a dozen candidates have declared their intention to run for the position, and it looks like it is going to be contested vigorously.

Solo herself might have some specific difficulties in her attempt, as her name has been in some less than favorable reports in the press in the past.

Hopefully, she has been able to put all that behind her though and is ready to show the world that she really can run the federation.

There is undoubtedly a lot of potential to improve the current state of U.S. soccer, as the sport is still lagging behind in popularity compared to in Europe.

Of course, it can be argued that this is beyond the reach of the president by him/herself, but the person in charge of the federation can still do a lot to push things forward and promote some much-needed changes.

Commenters say whoever is elected in February is going to make the right decisions that drive the federation towards positive changes.

For the first time in a long while, the United States men’s national soccer team will not participate in a FIFA World Cup competition.

There is also the issue of disparity between what men earned compared to their female counterparts.

Solo was one of the first stars to push for equality.
